Next season now: my favourite flats from Paris

Travelling to fashion week with InStyle means I get to have a sneak peak at next season’s shoe styles. OK, I know you’re all really excited that it’s finally bare ankles weather and you’re thinking about booking in your first pedicure of the year, but here’s a round-up of some of the best flats you’ve got to look forward to come autumn.

Favourite flats of the week go to these absolute beauts from Balenciaga. There’s a trend for this scuba sock-style for next season (also seen on flat boots in Milan at Prada, as well as some heeled styles elsewhere) and I love it. The grey and red pair are my favourites – I might have to start saving up right now…

Nicholas Kirkwood

One of my favourite shoe brands (you’ll see loads of shoes on the high street that take inspiration from his collections) is Nicholas Kirkwood. His designs are always so imaginative and fun, and usually with a geometric design thrown in for good measure.

Here’s a brand that knows how to do evening flats. Its Rockstuds are a favourite and have been around for years (top), but I also love the variation on the theme where the studs have been replaced by holes (bottom). A slightly more feminine take on the idea, and what a gorgeous colour combo.

Maison Margiela

Hairy – or sadly, furry – shoes are a MASSIVE trend for next season. That’s fur on the outside of the shoe, not even on the inside keeping your feet warm! I don’t wear fur so that trend isn’t one I’ll be embracing, but these ones are actually goat hair and as goat is a by-product they’re OK by me. A bit mental but kind of fun! And I expect the high street will follow suit with faux fur – and therefore more affordable – versions.

Robert Clergerie

And finally…the award for most amazing kiltie ever goes to…..Robert Clergerie! I’d love to know what you’re favourites are – leave your comments below…

tell me about it, stud

En Brogue will be taking a short Christmas break, so I thought I do a festive post about studded pumps before I go and have my first sherry of the holidays. I was inspired by a gorgeous pair I spotted on a friend yesterday, and by my own trusty Zara pumps that I’ll be sporting on Christmas day of course!

my Valentino inspired Zara studded pumps

They’re perfect for the party season (flat shoes are the best for dancing, naturally), and many similar styles have already been reduced in the sales.

Valentino Rockstud pumps, £393.07, farfetch.com BUY ME HERE!

Valentino started this trend with its Rockstud pumps, and now is the time to be looking for the real deal as prices start to reduce. I never buy designer at full price, but I’m always tempted when I see a bargain! These pointy ballet pumps also come in black, nude and hot pink, but I love these striking red ones, especially to wear over Christmas. They’re not in the sale yet, but I’ve got my eyes peeled…

Zara pumps, £99.99, zara.com BUY ME HERE!

At £99.99, these rather showy studs from Zara are a little more pricey than my red ones were (£24.99 and no longer online, sadly) but that’s because you get a lot of bling for your buck (and they’re much cheaper than Valentino). Brilliant if you want to ditch the heels on New Year’s Eve but still have fantastic festive feet.

KG Kurt Geiger Licorice pumps, £45 (reduced from £95), kurtgeiger.com BUY ME HERE!

Finally, this pair from Kurt Geiger were the inspiration for the post. And they’ve been reduced to £45 already! Love love love that monochrome dalmatian print and the studs are subtle enough so as not to overpower the shoe. They were still in store yesterday so hot-foot it to your nearest Kurt Geiger as these will sell out quick!

Anyway, hope you all have happy holidays partying smugly in your flat shoes while all around you hobble/apply plasters/are forced to dance bare foot. See you soon!
