This summer, footwear is getting decidedly rustic. Everywhere from the high street to high end brands, you’ll find shoes made from raffia, braided from rope, and woven from leather. Texture, texture, texture – it’s important to have touchy feely toes if you want to be on trend this summer.

1.Mango braided shoes, £59.99 (mango.com); 2. Free People Memphis flats, £168 (freepeople.com); 3. Anthropologie Anja woven flats, £148 (anthropologie.com)

There’s a bit of a whimsical feel with this style of shoe. It’s enough to make you want to throw a kaftan in a linen tote and jump on a plane to Ibiza. And while there’s something distinctly summery about them, I’ve gone for an edit here that’s all enclosed toe, so you could theoretically start getting the sunshine feels a little earlier than the hot weather actually arrives, albeit in a pair of jeans and a lightweight sweater.

4.Next ochre woven mules, £55 (next.co.uk); 5. Office Fruit Salad woven mules, £55 (office.co.uk); 6. Clergerie Jaly woven lace-ups, £385 (net-a-porter.com)

7.Urban Outfitters black woven mules, £58 (urbanoutfitters.com); 8. Toga Pulla woven Oxfords, £420 (farfetch.com); 9. Dune Darning woven flats, £80 (dunelondon.com)

10.Topshop Knot woven mules, £39 (topshop.com); 11. Russell & Bromley Clubclass loafers, £195 (russellandbromley.co.uk); 12. Arket slip-on loafers, £150 (arket.com)

13.Zara braided flat shoes, £49.99 (zara.com); 14. & Other Stories woven loafers, £89 (stories.com); 15. Stella McCartney woven wicker espadrilles, £405 (matchesfashion.com)

WEAR WITH

I love the earthy vibe of these shoes, so I’d follow that with an outfit to match. Lots of linen and seersucker, loose shapes and washed out shades or monochrome will do nicely. I also see myself pottering around a farmer’s market in this look, which is why I’ve gone heavy on the practical tote bags!

Toast linen tee dress, £155 (toa.st); Levi’s trucker, £59.49 (zalando.co.uk); Mango net bag, £39.99 (mango.com)

COS textured top, £55 (cosstores.com); The Cords & Co wide leg corduroy trousers, £130 (thecords.co.uk); M. Hulot linen tote, £35 (mhulot.co.uk)

Arket T-shirt, £12 (arket.com); Monki wide trousers, £30 (monki.com); Random Retail screen printed tote, £17.50 (randomretail.co.uk)

  1. These are very cute. I must admit, I’ve never worn woven shoes but these look fun. Maybe its time to step out of my comfort zone a bit. Loving the outfits too, casual is my thing, so these are great.
