Monki’s totally affordable summer sandals

There have been a couple of occasions recently where I’ve complimented someone on their outfit and it turns out it’s from Monki. I have to admit, I’ve never bought anything from Monki, but after all of this endorsement I thought it was about time I had a look. And it turns out that as well as the really affordable, fashion-forward apparel (including a navy pinstripe pair of dungarees that I think I might have to buy), it has some really cool shoes. In particular, its offering of simple, minimal summer sandals.

Now, these shoes are not expensive, but they’re not made of leather either, so that’s great if you’re a vegan. It also means you should only expect them to last this summer (depending on how often you wear them, obviously). However, if you’re after a quick new season footwear fix, you can’t do better. And don’t forget to check out the clothes while you’re there!
Three of the best: floral trainers
What better way to get some summer vibes on your feet than with a bit of a floral print? And there’s plenty on offer, trainers-wise, this season, too. Go classic retro with Keds’ collaboration with Rifle Paper Co, or for something more contemporary, look for a print on a dark background, like these from Zara and New Balance.
My new job!
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I have a new job! I’m now acting fashion editor at the London Evening Standard, covering maternity leave until early next year. Panic not: it’s three days a week, so I will still have plenty of time to write this blog! But if you pick up the Standard on your way home on a Tuesday, keep an eye out for my name! Oh, and it also means that three outfit posts per week will involve me looking relatively smart…how refreshing.
