What I wore at Paris Fashion Week, and the rest of this week’s Shoes News

PFW: I wore trainers

I popped to Paris Fashion Week this week (I don’t have the weight of a big publication behind me anymore, so a friend and I clubbed together and did it on the cheap – it was fun!) and as always, there was much debate beforehand about what to wear. I say much debate; it was just me talking to myself in my wardrobe, but you know what I mean.

Anyway, always keen to set myself self-imposed style challenges, I thought it would be fun to just wear Superga while I was in Paris. I’m a bit of a late starter when it comes to Superga love, but following a trip to the Carnaby Street store recently, I have become somewhat obsessed. As well as looking laid-back cool, they are always amazingly comfortable from the first wear, even if you go without socks. Plus you can now get them in leather, which was ideal in the torrential rain we got in Paris.

New on my radar from Paris

Fashion week isn’t all about shows; we also spend a lot of time doing appointments to look at new collections. They’re particularly good for accessories because you get to see them up close and personal, so obviously that’s of special interest to me! Excuse the pictures – they’re just snaps taken on my phone but these styles are so new that’s all that’s available right now!

The first brand I wanted to tell you about is Newbark. It started out making foldable shoes to carry in your handbag (and still makes these – they’re rather nice) but has since expanded into a full range of shoes and boots. For SS17, there is a cool retro feel; I absolutely loved these pool slides with their 70s-vibe flock fabric.

The second brand is called Stella Luna. This mostly monochrome collection is all about texture, with snazzy pointed dress shoes in patent adorned with oversized bows, and sheepskin pool slides. My favourites though had to be the woolly slippers in black or white. Not massively practical, but totally adorable.

I’m sure I’ll be writing about both brands more in the future so watch this space!
