The Med meets New York in a trainer, and the rest of this week’s Shoes News

New brand alert: NewYorkinas

€99,99  reduced from €119,

I just love how many new sneaker brands are popping up at the moment, particularly since many of them are spearheaded by women (did you read my interview earlier this week with KICKSLOVE founder Lisa Barlow Weber? It’s here if you missed it). The latest one to hit my radar is NewYorkinas; a Spanish brand inspired by, you guessed it, New York City. They very kindly sent me a pair to try out and I can report back that they are made from the softest leather, and are really comfy to boot. I love that they all come with a blue sole, inspired by the colour of the Mediterranean, and this pair are in my shoe colour of the moment, grey. I used to struggle to find grey trainers but I’ve got quite the collection now! All styles are currently in the sale, and they have assured me that they ship to the UK no problem.

Three of the best…furry sliders

Office ‘Hype’ sliders, £32, available from January 23rd,

Avec Moderation ‘Kitzbuhel’ sandals, £532,

Birkenstock ‘Arizona’ sandals with sheepskin, £79.99, reduced from £114.95,

OK, call me mad, but having spotted a girl wearing Birks with socks this week (regular En Brogue readers will know this is one of my favourite Marmite looks!) I’ve had sandals on the brain. It’s hard to get out of the magazine editor mindset of thinking a few months ahead, even while we’re enduring a cold snap! Not only that, but loads of new season sandals are just hitting stores right now, so they’re hard to avoid. I still haven’t got around to getting myself a pair of the sheepskin Birkenstock Arizonas (though they are in the sale at the moment…hmmm…) but I might have to get myself some of Office’s ‘Hype’ sandals, which go in store on January 23rd (Monday). If money were no object though, I would splash out on some Avec Moderation sliders (SWOON!). Aren’t they divine?! They do have similar pairs in the sale at the moment (just search ‘Avec Moderation’ on but they’re still a bit of an investment!

NB: these are all sandals which use sheepskin or faux fur, not fur, which I never feature on this blog

Superga’s leather high tops: OBSESSED!

2754 EFGLU sneakers, £65,

Last week I went into Superga to try out its customisation service (there’s a whole blog post dedicated to trainer customisation coming soon – I’m still busy researching it) and I can’t stop thinking about the leather high tops I saw in store. They come in various colours, but it’s the white with gum sole that I’m really lusting after. They’re only £65 too, but I just can’t justify buying another pair of trainers at the moment!! So I thought I’d pass the information on to you. You’re welcome.
