boots part 3: over the knee

We’re probably not quite into cold enough weather yet to wear this style, but over-knee boots are set to be huge this winter, with Balmain, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Pucci all showing them on the catwalks. I’ve been a fan for a while, having owned a leather sheepskin-lined pair by DUO for a few years that have kept me warm in some very cold conditions. And I’m now in possession of my second pair by the same brand, which though are a little less practical, being made of suede, have far more of a fashion edge. Mine are classic black, but they also come in tan if you want to emulate that high fashion look from Pucci.

Good old Russell & Bromley has been championing this style for years with its best-selling 50-50 boots by Stuart Weitzman. Kate Moss is the current face of the campaign, and other celebrity fans include Angelina Jolie, Olivia Palermo and Emma Roberts. My favourites are this pair in navy (I’m loving navy boots as an alternative to black at the moment).

This next style by Mint Velvet are actually described as knee boots, but on me they definitely come higher than that (even on the model they are creeping up above the knee cap). They, like the Clarks and Dune boots below them, are a more practical option than the suede boots as they are made out of leather. If you do buy the suede ones, don’t forget to also invest in bulk in suede protection spray!
